- Gene is composer-in-residence at the Outreach festival in Schwaz, Austria. He will have many performances and premieres there
- Gene's new chamber orchestra piece 'Tangent to Curves' will be premiered by The Absolute Enesemble with Kristjan Jarvi conducting at the '09 Bremen Musikfest.
